Digital Transformation Based on IT Governance in the Automotive Industry’s IT Sector

Digital transformation has now become a necessity for companies. To achieve digital transformation in the field of organizational IT, ISO 38500 has been recommended. This ISO outlines requirements without suggesting any specific solutions — it simply specifies what must be achieved within the IT domain.
To meet the requirements set out in this standard, a series of other standards/frameworks are needed, including COBIT, ISMS, TOGAF, ITSM, and BCM.
The scope of these standards and frameworks is such that, considering an organization’s maturity level and corporate culture, it could take years to fully implement all of them.
Fortunately, APQC provides a dedicated framework for the automotive sector, which, in an Agile manner, identifies the minimum essentials needed to meet IT governance requirements in the automotive field.
Thus, based on the organizational structure of the automotive company and the necessary requirements, a roadmap can be developed to achieve governance requirements, tailored to business needs, stakeholder strategies, and higher-level mandates, moving toward enhancing digital governance maturity in the IT sector of automotive companies.
